Small Minimalist Study Room

Friday, August 20, 2021

There are plenty of reasons why a small room can be made into a great place to study. A great place to learn and to be alone and quiet, a small room can also have a rich educational atmosphere. For instance, you don't have to put in as much hardwood as you would in a larger room or have as much decor to set the scene and set the tone for your new small study. In this article I'll describe some tips on how to create a small room that will be conducive to your studying.

Considerations in Decorating a Study Room

First, you need to decide if your room is going to be an open plan space or will it be closed in? If it's going to be an open plan area then you will need to take into consideration any surrounding features. Will the room be surrounded by walls, windows or will the area be open ended? These are important issues because it will affect what type of furniture you need and the amount of open space that is available.

There are several items that I highly recommend for a small study. First, is a small desk with a comfortable chair next to it. This desk should preferably be adjustable so that you can adjust the height of the desk according to what your needs are at the moment. The ideal desk will have shelves where you can store your books and small computers. You don't want to have to keep moving your books back and forth from the desk.

Choose a Table That Fits The Style in The Room

You can choose a desk that will match the style of the other items in the room. For instance, if your living room has an antique aesthetic to it then a modern antique desk would go great. Or if you're interested in a particular design or period such as Edwardian or Art Deco, then a desk designed to match this type of decor would be appropriate. As with everything else in life, you get what you pay for so I would suggest getting a higher quality desk that will last longer.

A small lamp is a great accessory to place beside a desk. If you want to read while you work, then a floor lamp is perfect. Some lamps even come with a table to place on top of it when not in use. Floor lamps also save space, since they take up very little room. Just make sure the lamp is energy-efficient since we are talking about small space here.

Using Shelves and Small Cabinets

Shelves and small cabinets can be useful as well. These items will store things that you don't need to look at constantly. For instance, you might need a bookcase for your library collection but you can always find a way to hang on to a few books that you might need to reference later on.

Another nice idea is to create a small bedroom to study in. A bedroom should have enough space to comfortably place all of your belongings. It shouldn't feel cramped and it should encourage you to study more. If the room is small, opt to use shelves or cabinets. They come in various designs, so you won't have any problem coming up with one that best fits the study area that you have.

One last thing that you need to consider when looking at your options for a small bedroom to study in is the lighting. Don't worry too much, because there really are no set rules when it comes to lighting. You can either use it to illuminate a part of the room that you need to study in, or you can have lamps that provide soft light throughout the entire area. This way, you can study in comfort without having to strain to see what you are writing or reading. With a small bedroom to study in, you can get more done with less distractions.
